Reducing drop out rates

Harvesting rain water in Kabale

Digging in the rain reaps results

From Cameroon ... "Due to heavy rains (peak period of the rainy season in Cameroon), the local community has tried to do the digging of the latrine pit  for a couple of times so that  the molding of blocks, laying of toilet platform can commence but the water table in the soil is high and can disturb the latrines not to attend the required depth.As such, we have decided to suspend this component of the project til late October,2013 when the rains will go down. ICT in Cameroon

Dear Sir, Accept warm greetings from CCREAD-Cameroon and community for the grant offered us to assist abandoned teenage mothers set up a vocational training center. At the moment, we are officially confirming that materials have been procured and the ICT unit is fully installed while training for the first shift of teenage girls commences next week. Bee keeping in Tantala

Hope you and the entire KTCT team are faring well. This is just to update you on the progress of work regarding the bee-keeping project. Each beneficiary woman farmer is expected to get 2 Kenyan Top Bee hives for installations. Bee-hives are not ready made in the market. To meet this requirement, a skill person-local carpenter was contracted to make all bee-hives for the women farmers. Red Hardwood boards were procured to be converted into bee-hives with the required standards of measurements under the supervision of bee-keeping expert. Lifting the burden of disease in Uganda

If quality of life for healthy Malawian children is low, quality of life for children with severe mobility issues can be dire. They are largely ‘abandoned’ to the floor or the ground unless a guardian can carry them on their backs, which in turn creates health problems for mums and other guardians, particularly as their children grow. Rainwater Harvesting in Uganda

a message from LUNCH4LEARNING (UGANDA) Project: To build 5 new water tanks each with a 10,000 litre capacity for schools to harvest rainwater. In an environment where children have travelled long distances on foot to get to schools, having access to drinking water will improve sanitation through regular hand washing and also make water available for cooking the lunchtime meals. In at least one of the schools that will be targeted for this project, the nearest water source is 2 kms away and that has proved a deterrent to attending school.
